Yellow Brick Road

June 28, 2013

It’s going to be warm again, but not as hot as yesterday. We head out early from our campsite and go East towards Wichita, Kansas.

Everything is flat.

We can see smoke from a fire in the distance. We are too far to see the forest fires but there are several burning in this area and there were several in AZ, NM and CO when we passed through those states.

We took Oscar to a doggy daycare. Too hot for him to be in Flyer, even with the generator and AC. Plus the generator has been acting up. We don’t want to take that risk.

We headed over to the Exploration Museum, yet another place we get free access to being ASTC members.

There was a full size castle. The kids loved this area.

Sister Bear found a few dogs that looked like Oscar.

Then we picked up Oscar and gave him a bath in a nearby parking lot – Yuck. Dogs stink after being with other dogs!

We decided to hang out for a bit with Flyer parked in the shade.

The kids decided to ride bikes.

Oscar zonked out in the front seat.

As we headed across the flat Kansas plains Legoboy worked on his extreme dot-to-dot.

And Sparky saw an armadillo in the road.

(not actual one)

We completed our travels of the yellow brick road of Kansas and finally passed into Missouri and found a place to camp for the night.
