July 6, 2013
Yesterday we checked in with some cousins in MA to see if they were around for this evening. If they were we thought we’d campout the night in their driveway before heading home on Sunday. With this beautiful 4th of July weekend we caught them away at Cape Cod. So that means we will head home today. Our heads will rest on our pillows in our home bed tonight. That thought seems hard to believe. 4 weeks gone by already? How can that be?
Legoboy’s map of states we’ve traveled is getting full so it must be true that we are near the end of our great adventure.
Carboy lost a tooth last night (must have been the fantastic dinner he had) and the tooth fairy seemed to find him just fine.
We got Flyer up and running for the last morning and scooted over to Waterbury, CT for some lunch.
We found this neat little restaurant that even had a plane hanging from the ceiling.
The burgers were huge! Reminded me of a cartoon strip, I think it was called Dagwood. Anyways, even after Sparky smooshed his down he could barely get his jaw around it. At the end of the meal more than half of this massive sandwich remained on his plate.
Carboy, who usually finishes every last morsel on his plate, had some of his “kids” size burger left. What size kids are they feeding? Conjoined twins, maybe, because it was plenty for two!
Logoboy’s meatball was the size of 6!
Next we headed north to Massachusetts. Not too much further until home…
Surprise, we went to a museum. Our membership has really been great. So many great opportunities for the kids to learn and get energy out.
The boys protected Sister Bear from the giant praying mantas
Sister Bear really wanted to take home the miniature red fox.
Legoboy liked the reptiles
All the kids wanted to try out the giant turtle shell. A much bigger version of our Red-Eared Sliders, Jeff and Joe, at home.
Legoboy loved the giant foam blocks
But his FAVORITE was the Statue of Liberty made from Legos
They all loved the space and sky exhibit and all dreamed of being astronauts
Outside the giant whale was fun for climbing and exploring
Back on the road again we headed North towards New Hampshire. Legoboy sported his new bug glasses and wooden owl necklace.
We stopped for dinner at a lovely little restaurant and smuggled Oscar in too… He’s such a good boy!
New Hampshire and Vermont and our trip is complete.
We had an amazing good time and hopefully have a huge bank of memories that will last a lifetime.
The sunset greeted us as we neared our home and we were happy to see the familiar sight.
